Choose your club Next week starting 19th January clubs begin. Those of you who were not in a club last term perhaps you should make it a New Year’s resolution to get involved in at least one extra-curricular activity this year. Remember you must have correct kit for your particular club. In secondary school for those waiting for a sibling, driver or someone else to pick you up you go to late room which is normally room 4 although, because of the IGCSE mock examinations, it will be room 24 for the first 2 weeks of clubs. If there is a football or other sports fixture on the main field you can go and watch it instead of going to the late room only if you are registered on the late bus and only if you stay on the steps. If you are found hanging around not respecting these rules after 3:15p.m you will be placed in detention. Persistent breach of these rules will mean you are banned from the school premises after 3:15p.m. You have 2 weeks to make your choice about the clubs you want to do as a register will be taken and if your name is not there in the first 2 weeks you will not be able to join the club later. Here is the list of secondary school clubs: Thank you to all the people who performed in the end of term assembly notably the sign language club, the Lamda performance from 4P and Mr. Chikhu and 10U. This all followed a very exciting staff v student waterpolo match which finished 4-2 to the students (scorers for the students: Nemanja (2), Janos & Heng and for the staff Sam and Max) In February our senior soccer team will be competing in a league with Aga Khan, Hillside & Taibah. I can already see that Mr. Urquhart and Hiller are working hard with the team to prepare them. In the holiday (on 19th December) the staff football team got together especially for our former captain and swimming coach Ronnie, to have a guest appearance. He was made captain again for the day but, alas, only inspired us to a 5-0 defeat to Old Kampala. On Friday we drew 2-2 with Blackboys with Oboloko scoring both goals for Rainbow. Those people who use the bus please make sure you return the signed copies of the code of conduct and rules and regulations to Lydia as soon as possible. The first 3 days with the new bus service seemed to go smoothly. It is an encouraging start but remember you will play your part if you stick to the promises you have made by signing the code of conduct. Remember also that Colours Club will only open after the last bus has left the premises from now on. Congratulations to Agnes Nayiga from Rec O on the birth of her baby boy, Raymond on 6th January and to Carol Ojambo (KGO) on the birth of her baby girl born on December 23rd. There will be a meeting for the parents of children going to Egypt within the next two weeks. We will let you know the exact date as soon as it is confirmed by the travel agent. During this meeting the agent will go through the itinerary, visa requirements and insurance, we will talk about what children will need to bring with them and give opportunity for parents to ask any unanswered questions. The trip is now full with one person waiting for a place. If you are new to school this term, or would have liked to have gone but couldn’t this time, don’t worry – there are other opportunities in Years 5/6 and also in secondary school. There will also be residential trips and activities for the children in Y3 & 4 during the week of the overseas trip. You will find out more about these after half –term. Trainers are for PE lessons only in KS2. Please ensure you have the correct footwear this week. You can wear shoes or sandals that fasten around the ankle (not flip flops or open back shoes). If you have any difficulty with this, please ask your parents to let me know or see me. Mrs. Dralega The final scoreboard of 2008 showed that Impala led the housepoints table. Can they keep it up for another 6 months and be overall champions at Rainbow for the first time ever? Rwenzori 9347 points |
