Talent Show this Saturday

Make sure you buy your ticket now from Lydia for the biggest show that Rainbow has ever hosted.  1200 people are expected to fill the seats on the main field to see talented students from Rainbow, KISU and other schools performing in 3 categories; dance, instrumental music and vocal music.  In total there will be 15 performances as well as some entertainment from special guest, Navio.  If you are not actually in the show make sure you come and watch.  It starts at 7:00p.m, this Saturday, 1st May, but come much earlier than that to avoid congestion at the entrance.

2 extra dates for your diary

Last Wednesday a calendar of key dates for this term was sent home with a letter.  The PSA Committee also met last week and can now announce two more important fun events for your diary.  On Saturday, 29th May, we will have the second PSA car boot sale in the school car park.  This will be especially useful to those who are about to leave the country and need to sell their household items.  2 weeks later on Saturday, 12th June there will be a special World Cup Food Fair.   The World Cup in South Africa kicks off on Friday, 11th June.  The next day there are 3 matches which we will show on a big screen at the Rainbow Club while eating a selection of food from around the world.  We will be very grateful to any parents or restaurants willing to provide dishes of a particular nation from anywhere in the world and especially require traditional food (and drink!) of the 6 countries competing on that day; Greece, North Korea, Argentina, Nigeria, England and the USA.  Full details of these two great events as well as other PSA news will be in a letter that you will receive from the PSA chairperson tomorrow.

Clubs start this week

Everyone should now have made their choices about which clubs to join starting this week.  Please make sure you attend your chosen club every week and that you go home or to the late/study rooms on afternoons when you have no club.  Please note that there is a fee of 10,000/= per term for the secondary school cookery club and 35,000/= per term for the secondary school contemporary dance club. All money must be paid before the first session in order for you to be allowed to participate.  Please also note that you should only attend Yearbook club if you have been invited to do so by Mr. Green.

Sports News

On Saturday we sent 3 soccer teams to play at KISU.  On Wednesday we have U12 and open basketball matches for boys and girls at the same venue and this Saturday we have U14 and open girls and boys football against KISU home and away.  Full details will be in next week’s Weekly Rainbow.  On Friday the staff soccer team played at home to The Congolese and lost 2 – 0.  It was our first defeat since February 13th!

Primary School News

In Primary School we had the first two class assemblies of the term this week.  1K told us about their favourite parts of the Easter holidays and shared the beautiful pictures they had painted of their activities.  Tania played a piano piece for us after telling us that her favourite activity in the holiday had been practising her piano skills.  Year 3 performed four items from their talent show that was staged before the Easter holidays.  This was interspersed with the handing out of certificates from the Inter-school Gala and Sports Days which took place last term.

Year 1 in Brazil

Last week many excited children in Year 1 took a flight of the imagination with Barnaby Bear and went to Brazil.  On Wednesday they had a host of activities all related to that country.  Next week they go to Australia! Mrs. Dralega
