Letter to Parents - 21st April 2010 PDF Print

We hope that you had a pleasant break with your children and that you are all now firmly back in the school routine for the third and final term of academic year 2009/2010.  All the staff and children were uplifted to return to newly tiled classrooms throughout secondary school and half of primary school. It was only a shortage of time that prevented the Key Stage 1 and Early Years blocks also having brand new floors.  The tiles are all in store and the job should be finished at half term.

It is a relatively short term but full of very important events. A calendar of key dates is given overleaf.  Of course, for students in years 11, 12 and 13, this term is probably most significant because of the exams that they will be sitting.  However, all other classes from year 2 upwards will also be having some form of end of year assessment.  We hope that they will all do their best by preparing well.  It is always important that the effort is put in throughout the term and not left to a few days before the tests or exams begin.

Options Evening Letter - 19th April 2010 PDF Print
On Thursday 22nd April we are holding an Options Evening in the secondary school hall from 4p.m. to 5:30p.m. for all students and parents of Years 9 and 11.  Teachers will be available to give information about all the subjects offered at Rainbow at both IGCSE and A level.

For Year 9 students, this will help them to complete the option form that they will be given later this half-term and which you will be asked to sign before it is returned to us.  Year 9 students will soon also face the challenge of external assessment in the form of their Cambridge Checkpoint Tests in English, Mathematics and Science which they will take on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May.

For Year 11 students, the Options Evening will help them decide which courses they will pursue next year, either at Rainbow or elsewhere.  We hope of course that many of you will choose to keep your children at Rainbow to join our A level programme.  For entry to Year 12, students will need to have 5 grades Cs or more at IGCSE, including Maths and English.
