World Cup Fun Day PDF Print
We invite you all for a fun day out on SATURDAY, 27TH FEBRUARY. Yes, it’s that day again when we all officially have fun, fun, fun! Lots of games, stalls, a bouncy castle, swimming, food, drink and ice cream and more and a Soccer World Cup to watch as well as Rugby Sevens playing a separate tournament and a Basketball Shoot Out to take part in.

The purpose of all these frolics is, as always, to raise money for the 3 things PSA have pledged to help the school with this year, that is, lockers for all secondary school pupils (or as many year groups as we can afford), reference books for the library for Secondary and Primary schools and musical instruments for Primary; all very good causes and things that will enhance life at school for your children.

We hope you can all come and bring your family, friends and relatives and possibly neighbours as well. EVERYONE WILL BE WELCOME.

There are, however, ways in which you, as parents and students can help in the organisation of the whole event to help make it a success for all. Please see if you can help out in any of these ways.

- Asking any company or business establishment (even your own employers) to donate a prize for the occasion. This year we plan to auction, in a special way, our big prizes but we will still hold a raffle for the smaller ones. We would like as many big prizes as possible but we also need smaller ones like meals at restaurants around town, shopping vouchers, gifts, free beauty treatments etc. Please, if you know of anyone who could give a prize ask them and say how it will help promote their company.

- If any of these companies want a stand at the Fun day it will cost them 50,000/= Ush BUT, if they are donating a prize, they can hire the stand FREE.

- If you know of anyone who has crafts or clothing or jewellery or who simply want to sell second hand items from their home please send them to Myf in Reception at the school. She will give them a booking form to fill in to secure a stall for the day for 30,000/=.

- If any students want to run a game or competition or an activity they should also see Myf in Reception and register the game or stall so that they are guaranteed a space.

- To register for the senior 5-a-side football competitions you form your squad of 8 and register with the school for a fee of 25,000/= but your team must be a country. You can choose students from different schools but REMEMBER only full time school students can play for a team. There are girls’ football teams as well so GIRLS …. COME AND REGISTER YOUR TEAMS TOO. The primary school World Cup is being organised internally by the primary school PE department.

- Raffle tickets for the prizes will be on sale during the day and at the entrance to the Grounds.

- The PSA are running a secondhand stall as well selling the class tea towels and greetings cards so perhaps you could hunt out some books (children or adult reading) and some clothing or household equipment which is in good condition for sale on that stall. You can bring it all in and leave it with Lydia or Myf.

- Those of you who enjoy baking could make some biscuits or cakes to sell on the ‘Snacks’ refreshment stall. Please bring them in to school on Friday 26th February or bring them in on the day. Pledge a cake or cookies to Myf at Reception.

- We are particularly looking for companies who can donate sports kits or sports items as prizes for the winning sports teams in sets of 8. Please inform us if you know of anyone who will do this.

Also: - If anyone knows of anyone who could loan us tents for the day please inform us as soon as possible.

If anyone has a bouncy castle we could borrow for the day at a reasonable rate please inform us as soon as possible.

If any family is willing to host a Brookhouse student from Nairobi (who are participating in the senior football competition) please contact Mr. Green immediately.

If you can’t help us in any of these ways just come and join in and share the fun with us…. and, of course, spend some money …. knowing that it will all go towards the benefit of the pupils/students.

SEE YOU THERE!

Yours faithfully,

Anne Thomas
